Refunds and cancellations

The short version: deposits aren't refundable, except in a genuine emergency, which we'll look at case by case. The rest of this page covers everything else.

Why deposits aren't refunded

Your deposit holds your date. Once it's paid, we turn down other work for that day and start planning your shoot. That's why it isn't refunded if you cancel.

Emergencies

If something serious happens that's genuinely out of your hands (a serious illness or injury, a bereavement, or something similar) call or message us as soon as you can.

We'll look at each situation individually. Depending on the circumstances, we may refund some or all of your deposit, or move your booking to a new date. That decision is ours to make case by case, but we'll always be fair about it.

Moving a date

If you need to change a shoot date, tell us as early as you can. We'll do our best to move it to another day we're free, and your deposit carries over. This depends on our diary, and some dates can't always be moved.

If you cancel a one-off job

  • Before the shoot: your deposit isn't refunded (unless it's an emergency, above), and you won't owe the rest.
  • After the shoot: the full fee is due, because the work has been done.

Ending a monthly package

  • A monthly package runs for at least six months. After that it's month to month, and either of us can end it with 30 days' notice.
  • Once the first six months are up, you can also move to a smaller package, drop replies or adverts, or take over the posting yourself, with 30 days' notice.
  • If we change our prices and you'd rather not continue, tell us before the new price starts. You can end the package from that date without paying for any months left of your first six.
  • The deposit isn't refunded, and any month that has already started is charged in full.
  • If you need to stop inside the first six months, talk to us. We plan our diary around that minimum, so those months remain payable, but we'll always try to find something fair.
  • Cancelling a Direct Debit with your bank stops the payments, but it doesn't end the package. Please tell us as well, so we can sort it out properly.
  • Everything we've delivered and you've paid for is yours to keep using.

If we have to cancel

If we can't make your shoot because of illness or an emergency on our side, we'll tell you as soon as we can and either find a replacement you're happy with or offer you another date. If neither works for you, we'll refund everything you've paid for that shoot, including the deposit.

If you're booking as an individual

If you book as a private individual rather than a business, and we arrange it without meeting in person (by phone, WhatsApp or online), the law gives you 14 days from booking to change your mind and cancel for a full refund, including the deposit.

If you'd like your shoot to happen within those 14 days, tell us when you book. If you then cancel inside the 14 days, you'll pay for any work we've already done.

To cancel, just call or message us on 07379 724530. A message saying you want to cancel is enough. There's no form to fill in.

After the 14 days, the deposit rules above apply. This section doesn't apply to bookings made for a business.

How refunds are paid

Refunds go back to the account you paid from, within 14 days of us agreeing them.
